Holding a double doctorate in New Testament exegesis, professor Dionne authored an important thesis on 鈥淭he narrative figure of God in the Acts of the Apostles鈥. This interdisciplinary research will have allowed him to bring into dialogue the study of ancient texts of the NT with contemporary language theories (Ricoeur, Genette, Gadamer). Associate professor then Vice Dean of the faculty of theology, he is presently Director of graduate and postdoctoral studies. Professor Dionne is the only Canadian to have published two works of scientific exegesis 鈥 over 800 pages 鈥 in the prestigious collection Lectio Divina (Cerf, Paris). He edited a dozen of issues, including several 鈥渟pecial editions鈥, of the Theoforum journal.

- The “Jews” in the Acts of the Apostles
What is the status of the 鈥淛ews鈥 (慰峒 峒肝肯呂次贬繓慰喂) in the Acts of the Apostles book? This question initiated the most recent research undertaken by Professor Dionne; research that will result in three long articles being published in the Theoforum journal (see 鈥淧ublications鈥) and which conclusions are not without impact on the Judeo-Christian dialogue. Based on this same study, a book reprising these three articles’ content, which will obviously be improved, enriched and enhanced, is currently being prepared. During 2021, part of this research will also be made available on the international Jewish-Christian Relations site (https://www.jcrelations.net/). - Missionary Discourse – Athens (Ac 17)
The last two large-scale works published by Professor Dionne (La Bonne Nouvelle de Dieu [2004]; L’脡vangile aux Juifs et aux Pa茂ens [2010]) constitute, still to this day, the only study in French concerned with the careful analysis of the missionary discourses (Missionsreden) in the Acts of the Apostles. If the five speeches of Peter were the object of an analysis in the work of 2004 and the speeches of Paul in Lystra and in Antioch of Pisidia were in that of 2010, still remains to be dealt with this exceptionally rich page that constitutes Paul’s speech in Athens (Acts 17). Such will be the topic of Professor Dionne’s next book which he has been working on for the last few years. The publication of this research will thus conclude a trilogy for which no equivalence exists today. - Scripture, Theology, Homosexuality, LGBTQ+
The Catholic Church still holds, even today, uncompromising positions regarding homosexual people and LGBTQ+ groups. This fact is known by all, and above all, well attested. Too often still, biblical texts, read in a fundamentalist and uncritical way, are manipulated following ideological prejudices, in order to construct a biased theological discourse that excludes and marginalizes people. In a research to be published in 2022, Professor Dionne will undertake to reread, from a critical and scientific viewpoint, the great “classics” of biblical literature which, supposedly, would condemn homosexuality without appeal (Gn 19; Lev 18.20 ; 1-2 Sa, Rm, etc.). Still, as this question goes well beyond the sole biblical and exegetical angle, this new study will also include reflections touching on history, systematic theology, ethics, anthropology, sociology, etc.
