The School of Leadership, ecology, and equity, in collaboration with the Working Group on Settler Colonialism, invites you to Being an Ecofeminist and Decolonizing Leader: Transcontinental Dialogue Series聽as part of the HUM5528 course led by Professor David Hernandez.
During this series of meetings, we will discover courageous leaders from Ecuador, Colombia, Nicaragua, North Kivu and Honduras, regions rich in natural resources and marked by socio-environmental conflicts. Each meeting will provide an opportunity to deepen our understanding of local issues while fostering a broader dialogue on ecofeminist action, particularly territorial and community-based ecofeminisms. Topics such as decolonisation, peace, water protection and resistance to mining will be explored.
Meet Sara In茅s Lara
Indigenous conservationist and environmental activist Sara In茅s Lara was born and raised in the Andes mountains of Colombia. For the past two decades, she has dedicated herself to conservation on an international scale. In 2004, she founded Women for Conservation, combining her love of nature with her commitment to empowering women. She is also a founding member and Executive Director of Fundaci贸n ProAves. Her main areas of interest include preventing extinctions, working with local stakeholders, empowering women, sustainability and climate change.
